  • Review of the Hammer at the Tribeca Film Festival
This is a feel good movie that contains excellent acting performances. The central character is Jerry Farro, played by Adam Corolla. The soon to be 40 Jerry Farro, had prior experience as a talented fighter in the Golden Gloves when he was 19 and at that point had Olympic potential, but drifted away from the sport for other endeavors of his youth.
  • Psalm 17
The wicked, have come his way, and are hunting him down specifically forcing the issue and causing David to respond. Perhaps David could have not uttered these words against the wicked but since they are seeking him in particular, he is forced to confront the matter and bring it to the Lord.
  • Psalm 130
Remain standing in the context is the maintenance of the relationship with the Lord, or coming into good standing with the Lord in terms of relationship and prayer. The psalmist is acknowledging that the call to prayer does remain and stand, and of course this may include intercessory prayer.
  • The Last Dance With Freedoms Chance
There is so much to ponder as we try to operate in our daily lives and continue in charting a certain path the concept of freedom comes into play. Some people have gotten fired from a job only to find it was a relief. What does that say about where they were then?
  • Meditations on Psalm 39
In verse for where he says, “Lord, let me know my end, and what is the measure of my days, he is trying to get a handle on what the Lord really wants from him, in outline form. He is asking for a divine measure of things, which is different than man’s measure of things.
  • Meditations on Psalm 121
You could almost see the psalmist here trekking through some high mountainous terrain, being totally subject to whatever the elements would bring and going to and fro in unknown and tricky trails without the help of familiarity.
  • Now More Than Ever
At least I can have the awareness that I am doing this. I can then consider that with this prediction as with any prediction there is the possibility that I made the wrong prediction and that I might be therefore procrastinating in error based on a wrong prediction.
  • How to Pray with Your Personal Prayer Grid
Over the previous summer, I had worked at Many Glacier Hotel in Montana, which afforded me some opportunities to pray while hiking alone on some shorter hikes of say about 5 miles. Some of the hikes were particulary awesome.
  • Prayer in the midst of Change
I’ve left my prayer a little. I’m leaving prayer behind because I’ve been busy trying to change. When I make the changes I want to make, I’ll get back to prayer.
  • Psalm 63
Central to this psalm is contrasting the desert experience of the soul to the expanse of the presence of God. Verse 1 says, “ O God, my soul thirsts for you, my body longs for you, in a dry and weary land, where there is no water."
  • Psalm 41
Happy are those who consider the poor, the Lord delivers them in the day of trouble, the Lord protects them and keeps them alive, they are called happy in the land. You do not give them up to the will of their enemies.
  • Psalm 67
This psalm extents the invitation to praise and come into relationship widely, to all the ends of the earth. It asks in beautiful prose that the Lord let his face shine upon us. The prayer is asking for a communal blessing that extends thru the far reaches of the earth, to all the nations both near and far to the psalmist.
  • Psalm 77
Here the psalmist doubly distressed. He is immersed with some onslaught of personal problems and difficulties and he is not going to relent on seeking God's help in the matter.
  • Psalm 23
You prepare a table before me, in the presence of my enemies, you anoint my head with oil, my cup overflows, Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me, all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord, my whole life long.
  • Probability and Your Personal Potential
Probability deals with outcome but also with what I'll probably want to do. It's a subtle distinction but something to keep in mind as we try to chart a course. I'll probably want to go in the water if I go to the beach.
  • Further Development
One of the questions can be, what can you do to get this ship to rise. Invariably, we might seem to be stuck at a level that is seemingly lower that we had hoped for in our aspirations. This could be symbolized as say having a job that plateaus at 20 dollars an hour when some relatives or our friends might be making ten times that.
  • Further Down the Coast
Remember it’s not just your money you’re spending but also your time. Is this job a way to spend my time that I am actually happy with? Do spend it in worthy fashion, don’t waste or squander your time or money.
  • New Paths for a New World
We have before us many alternatives, parallel paths that we can’t visit at the same time. We can’t be in two places at once. How many of us, would if we could, divide ourselves into a group, and send ourselves in different directions at once.
  • Finding Reasons to go forward now
We take something negative from the past and give it greater weight by bringing it into the present. Why go back to the seat of your failure now? So distant is today that those alien shores of tomorrow are closer to our present thoughts, our presence missed by this day, right now.
  • Mark yourself for success
An example of how we mix up more or less territory is by association. For the last 2 years I am afraid to go on a date. The reason is I have 2 dollars in my pocket on average. All of the sudden my pockets are lined with lots of money due to a change in fortune as per my finances. But I am still afraid to go on a date.
